Here are the show descriptions for the last two shows. If you have an idea for a show please don’t hesitate to send me an email.
Reality and Foreign Policy (Show 023):
I talk about trying to escape reality and how you don’t necessarily need drugs to do it. I also talk about how this is affecting our current political affairs. Then there was a caller who wanted to talk about foreign policy. This was one of the better conversations on the subject I have had in a long time. Check it out!
The Take Over (Show 024):
Since the Saturday before this show I held a large art/music event, I was little tired. I was trying to make it a quick show, but I got a caller that liked to talk. The caller himself seemed like a good guy, but I was not to sure about what he was talking about. Since I was not informed on the topic I was not able to debate with him.
When he finally wrapped it up, he supplied me with links to read up on. I would like to post them (links: iamsovereign.org and citizenstribunal.com) so we can all see what he was talking about and better debate people like him. He had a few good points but I think his reasoning to get him to them were off.
If you know anything about what he was talking about please send me an email and/or come on the show. I would like to try to convince this guy and people like him to read about Objectivism and I think that would help them better understand their situation.
Remember to listen to the show live every Sunday at 8pm EST!
On last weeks show (show 022), I talked about another email I got from the “Rand Haterâ€. They told me that they enjoyed the show, which I was happy to hear. They also gave me a list of questions to answer in order to help give them a better understanding of Objectivism.
1.) What are man’s rights? Is there a list?
2.) What is freedom?
3.) Why is laissez-faire capitalism the only economic system that permits freedom?
4.) Does money equate to happiness?
5.) Would you say that how happy a person is, is a judgment on how good their life is?
6.) What do you think about public radio?
7.) What do you think about piracy (on the internet, not the high seas)?
8.) Do Objectivists believe that nobody has to be poor or live in poverty
and all that it is, is a matter of choice?
9.) When people were talking about alcoholics during the last show they said they could choose to stop drinking, but the first step in AA is to admit that you are powerless. Isn’t this a contradiction?
10.) Are Objectivists pacifists, or do they believe in preemption?
11.) Are corporations necessary for a free society?
I answered the questions on the show to the best of my ability and understanding. If you feel I made any contradictions please email me so we can discuss it.
On this weeks show (show 023), I have a few topics we can talk about. If you think of anything else, just send me an email. It’s more fun when I have listener questions and comments to talk about.
Here are the topics so far:
1.) Evading reality.
2.) Objectivist perspectives on foreign policy.
3.) How Libertarianism and Objectivism don’t mix.
Remember to listen live Sunday, August 19th at 8pm. All you need to do is sign up for a TalkShoe.com account to call into the show LIVE.
On last night’s podcast (show 21) I talked about an email I received from an Ayn Rand hater. In the email they tell me that they like my show but are not a fan of Objectivism. So I asked them to tell me why. I find that most people hate Objectivism even though they don’t understand its positions in each of the branches of philosophy: metaphysics, epistemology, human nature, ethics, politics, and esthetics.
Without even asking, they broke their argument down to these six branches. This made it easy for me to debate their argument on the show. I started off by going through the principles of the six branches that are presented on aynrand.org. I then presented the emailer’s arguments and discussed my thoughts on how they might have misunderstood Objectivism.
Soon after the show aired, I received a follow up email from the Ayn Hater. In the email they tell me that after listening to the show they realized that their arguments were not fully thought out and thanked me for helping them with that. They also told me that they would like to come on the show to debate, so if all goes well, we may see a round two in the future.
If you have any questions or comments about the show please email me. Also, if I ever make a contradictory statement about Objectivism, call me on it. I never make them on purpose; it is only because I am still a student of Objectivism.
