On last night’s podcast (show 21) I talked about an email I received from an “Ayn Rand hater”. In the email they tell me that they like my show but are not a fan of Objectivism. So I asked them to tell me why. I find that most people hate Objectivism even though they don’t understand its positions in each of the branches of philosophy: metaphysics, epistemology, human nature, ethics, politics, and esthetics.
Without even asking, they broke their argument down to these six branches. This made it easy for me to debate their argument on the show. I started off by going through the principles of the six branches that are presented on aynrand.org. I then presented the emailer’s arguments and discussed my thoughts on how they might have misunderstood Objectivism.
Soon after the show aired, I received a follow up email from the Ayn Hater. In the email they tell me that after listening to the show they realized that their arguments were not fully thought out and thanked me for helping them with that. They also told me that they would like to come on the show to debate, so if all goes well, we may see a round two in the future.
If you have any questions or comments about the show please email me. Also, if I ever make a contradictory statement about Objectivism, call me on it. I never make them on purpose; it is only because I am still a student of Objectivism.
